ITV SignPost Productions has resumed filming as coronavirus restrictions ease across the UK.

Productions were paused back in March due to the pandemic, but were able to restart in late June after the government approved industry-wide guidelines.

The first production to get underway was Dare Master @Home, a children’s series for CITV which is due to go on air from Monday 3rd August.

The ten-part series, shot entirely on location in Northumberland, saw the crew adhere to strict social distancing guidelines and a designated COVID-19 monitor was onsite to implement the restrictions.

Kenny Toal, director of ITV SignPost Productions said: “Being able to restart productions was something we’d been working on for some time. The safety of the cast and crew was our top priority and with the industry guidelines it meant we were able to provide a COVID-secure workplace for the production team. The success of our first production back on location means we know we can make a successful programme whilst observing social distancing and other controls to keep people safe.”

Dare Master @Home, starring 16-year-old Danny Murphy, is a spin-off of his successful Dare Master series for CITV and sees him take on a series of wacky challenges which viewers can also try at home.

“All the challenges are unlike the first series of ‘Dare Master’ which saw me bungee jumping off the Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough to extreme window cleaning at the ‘Sage in Gateshead” says Danny. “This time round all the challenges can be done by kids at home and have a time limit which makes it more difficult. Children from all over the North East joined me by video as they took part in some of the challenges. You’ll just have to wait and see who has to put a cream pie in their face!”

Join Danny and his fellow challengers for Dare Master @Home on CITV starting Monday 3rd August at 12:10pm and 8:55pm.

The restart of filming comes as Chancellor Rishi Sunak said it is “vital” that productions resume. A £500 million scheme aimed at getting film and television production back up and running has been announced by the Culture Secretary.

The Film and TV Production Restart Scheme funding will be available to productions made by companies where at least half of the production budget is being spent in the UK.
