ITV SignPost and Oak National Academy have reached a milestone in the provision of signed children’s content during the pandemic.

More than 1000 lessons have been presented in British Sign Language (BSL) for children in Years 1-3.

ITV SignPost produced signed versions of Maths and English sessions to help ensure continuity of education for deaf children across the country.

The collaboration has had a positive response from parents and was highlighted in the Houses of Parliament by the Secretary of State for Education.

Director of ITV SignPost, Kenny Toal, said:

“It’s vitally important that all young people are able to access learning at this difficult time.  We’re delighted to be able to offer some support to the wonderful work being done by the Oak National Academy by providing signing for young children to help them continue their development during lockdown.”
