ITV SignPost has partnered with British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust (BSLBT) to offer a new trainee scheme. Applications are now being invited from Deaf film-makers and production talent who want to break into the industry.

The annual scheme, which is the first of its kind, will begin in January 2020 and see Deaf talent employed on a range of BSLBT content, which ITV SignPost has been commissioned to make.

Over the 12 months each trainee will be given a full time role including access to bespoke training, industry mentors and gain invaluable hands-on experience in a range of television production roles. As trainee’s they will be under the employment of ITV, the UK’s biggest commercial broadcaster. 

BSLBT commissions television programmes made in British Sign Language by Deaf people in partnership with hearing people. The trust was set-up in 2008 to offer an alternative way for commercial broadcasters to meet regulatory requirements.
